The course then heads North for a loop through Fort Harrison State Park. The Half Marathon then returns to the finish line while the Marathon continues through the State Park to Fall Creek Parkway. This begins a beautiful, flat, tree-lined, creek side, out and back stretch along Fall Creek Corridor Park before retuning to the finish line via the State Park. A race vehicle will take you back to the finish area. SPECIAL INFORMATIONMarathon participants proceeding at a 13 min/mile pace must cross Shadeland Avenue ON A GREEN LIGHT after 1:30 pm (mile 23.5). Police will still be present after 1:30pm to assist walkers but will no longer be stopping traffic. There will be a "Seeded Runner" area at the front of the starting field. Seeded runners will be identified by their race bibs. All other runners should self-seed their starting positions according to the pace signs at the starting line. VERY IMPORTANT! The Marathon and Half Marathon courses will remain open and supported for all participants maintaining the following paces: Half Marathon 17 minutes per mile, and Full Marathon 15 minutes per mile. In addition, there will also be an 8 minute “grace period” to allow everyone this extra time to get across the starting line. This works out to finishing time limits of 3 hours 51 minutes for the Half Marathon and 6 hours 41 minutes for the Full Marathon. To ensure the safety of all participants, any participant not maintaining this pace will be asked to retire from the event and be taken back to the race site on an event vehicle. Several parts of the course are an "out and back" format. Participants should stay to the right when facing other oncoming participants at all times. The entire course is marked with white arrows. The Full and Half Marathon courses run together for the first 12.5 miles. When you return to the intersection of 59th Street & Post Road at the entrance to Fort Harrison State Park, the Marathon continues straight into the park while the Half-Marathon turns left onto Post Road and proceeds to the finish line. The roads are clearly marked and plenty of volunteers will direct participants. |
